  • 1. Who can join ABSLTA?

    Anyone who is Deaf and teaches or assesses British Sign Language (BSL) can become a member. We offer different membership categories, including Associate, Member, and Fellow, each with its own criteria and benefits.

  • 2. What is ABSLTA?

    ABSLTA is a group that helps BSL teachers and assessors. We work to improve BSL teaching and raise awareness about BSL in the UK. We have been running since 1979!

  • 3. What are the benefits of being a member?

    As an Associate, Member, or Fellow of ABSLTA, you gain access to:

  • 5. What is the difference between Associate, Member, and Fellow?

    • Associate: For those who work in BSL education but don’t yet have a teaching qualification.

    • Member: For those who hold a BSL teaching qualification.

    • Fellow: For experienced BSL teachers (at least 10 years) who have made significant contributions to BSL education.
