    • Notification of acceptance: 15 March 2026

    Call for Papers

    Proposals must relate to one of the following thematic areas:

    Priority Themes

    Sign Language as a First Language

    What it is: Teaching, assessing, or supporting native signers.

    They look for: Research, examples from Deaf children, L1 development.

    Stronger proposal: Show evidence or real teaching examples.

    Sign Language Curriculum

    What it is: Curriculum design, levels, standards.

    They look for: Clear structures, frameworks, progression.

    Stronger proposal: Show how your curriculum works in practice.

    Other Accepted Themes

    Sign Language as a Second Language

    What it is: Teaching SL to learners with no signing background.

    They look for: L2 methods, grammar teaching, assessment ideas.

    Stronger proposal: Connect to L2 theory + show learner outcomes.

    Sign Language Teaching & Bilingual Education

    What it is: Using SL + written/spoken language together.

    They look for: Real bilingual classroom practice.

    Stronger proposal: Describe context and show impact on learning.

    Teaching & Pedagogical Resources for Sign Language

    What it is: Teaching materials (videos, worksheets, apps, AI).

    They look for: Useful, tested resources.

    Stronger proposal: Show how learners used the resource.

    Teaching Minority Sign Languages

    What it is: Teaching smaller or emerging sign languages.

    They look for: Case studies, challenges, solutions.

    Stronger proposal: Explain community context + adaptations.

    Sign Language & Deaf Immigrant Communities

    What it is: Supporting learners with different sign languages.

    They look for: Methods for mixed groups, bridging communication.

    Stronger proposal: Give real examples and practical solutions.

    Sign Language for Deaf People with Disabilities / Specific Needs

    What it is: Adapting SL teaching for diverse needs.

    They look for: Accessibility strategies.

    Stronger proposal: Describe adaptations and learner progress.

    Artificial Intelligence, New Technologies & Sign Language Teaching

    What it is: Using digital tools, AI, apps, VR, etc.

    They look for: Real use, honest benefits + challenges.

    Stronger proposal: Include examples, screenshots or evaluation.

    Sign Language and Culture

    What it is: Deaf identity, history, cultural teaching.

    They look for: Creative cultural approaches.

    Stronger proposal: Show how culture improved learning.

    Any related topics within Sign Language Pedagogy & Bilingual Education

    What it is: Anything relevant not listed above.

    They look for: New ideas or unique projects.

    Stronger proposal: Explain the importance and results.

    Types of Submissions

    1. Paper Presentations

    • 30-minute presentation + Q&A

    • Should align with thematic areas

    • Use of International Sign recommended

    2. Roundtable Discussions

    • 60-minute moderated panel

    • 7–10 minutes per speaker

    • Must reflect multiple perspectives on the chosen theme

    • Use of International Sign recommended

    Each proposal must include:

    • Author(s)
    • Affiliation / organisation
    • Contact information

    Abstract Format Options

    Signed Abstract (video):

    • Maximum 2 minutes

    • Via WeTransfer or YouTube link

    Written Abstract:

        • Maximum 300 words

        • Include 3–5 keywords (in English)

    Poster Presentation Requirements

    Each proposal must include:

    DIN A0 size (84.1 × 118.9 cm), portrait

    Must include:

    • Authors & affiliations
    • Introduction / context
    • Methodology
    • Results
    • Conclusion
    • References
    • Contact information

    Signed Video Explanation (via QR Code)

    Maximum 10-minute video

    Accessible via QR code on the poster

    Pre-recorded and hosted on YouTube or Vimeo

    Recommended:

    • Dark, uniform background
    • Strong contrast for visual accessibility
    • Clear focus and framing suitable for signing

    Display Information

    • Posters displayed during conference documentation reception

    • Permanently displayed for the full two conference days

    • Authors may stand by posters (optional, not mandatory)

    • Additional QR code may be included for downloadable posters

    • Printing is the responsibility of authors
