We are thrilled to share the success of the BSL Horizon Conference held in Manchester! The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees, and we are already considering organising another conference in the future.
The conference featured an impressive lineup of presenters and keynote speakers who delivered valuable and insightful sessions on a wide range of topics. From innovative teaching practices and linguistic insights to theoretical perspectives and training development initiatives like mentoring and family sign language projects, there was something for everyone.
A special highlight was the presence of guest speakers from the British Deaf Association (BDA), including CEO Rebecca Mansell and Chair Dr. Robert Adam. We were also honoured to have Dr. Joseph Murray from the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) join us. Additionally, we are grateful to the British Deaf Museum for opening its doors and allowing us to tour their remarkable exhibits.
If you are interested in organising a similar conference in the future or have any suggestions, please reach out to Stuart Parkinson, our Secretary, or Judith Kidd, our Membership Officer. Your input and participation are invaluable in continuing to support and advance the field of British Sign Language.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. We look forward to many more enriching conferences in the future – BSL Horizon 2!
